So I am not sure if I have said this around these parts, but lately the twins have zero appetite. Well for anything but fruit snacks that is. It started with them not eating lunch at school, a lunch they had always loved and eaten well. I thought maybe they were just bored with it, so for 2 weeks Will and I tried something new each day. And each day their lunch boxes came home basically untouched.
Then dinner would roll around and once again they were refusing food. All their favorites even. I knew we had an issue the night they refused Chick-fil-a. I checked with our pediatrician and she said as long as they weren’t losing weight I shouldn’t be concerned and that it was probably just a phase.
It still bothered me though.
So then last week I was at Costco (can we pause and take a moment for the amazingness that is Costco) and while browsing, I happened to see that they had the Ninja Mega Kitchen System (BL771)for $119. Will and I had been chatting about them just a few days before and I had been eyeing the same one on Amazon. But with a price tag well over $200 I didn’t give it a second glance. We sat and debated for a few minutes…$100 was still a lot of money, but in the maybe 5 minutes standing there 4 different people came and were snatching them up fast. We looked and saw only two were left and, what can I say, it was peer pressure.
The kids were super excited about it as we put it into the basket and we told them we were going to have “milkshakes” when we got home.
And we did. And they LOVED them. And I loved them. And Will loved them. #winning
And in the less than one week we have owned that bad boy, we have totally gotten our monies worth.
We have been trying all kinds of different variations, but this one, we call it our Sunrise Smoothie, has been a crowd pleaser for the last few mornings. Is it the most healthy ever? No. But my kids are getting some fruit and food in them before school. And as the weeks go by we will perfect our smoothie skills and add even more to their smoothies, wait, I mean “milkshakes”.
Ingredients:
1 cup frozen peaches
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
1 cup coconut milk
1-2 teaspoons agave
Directions:
Mix all ingredients into your Ninja and watch that bad boy blend you a delicious smoothie in a matter of seconds.
And as evidenced by these photos, there were four little hands that could not wait to drink it all up….
So tell me, what are your go to smoothies?
