They say that behind every favorite song, there is an untold story.
This is the story of a busy mom, as told through music.
You wake and begin your day with a delicious cup of coffee. You are going to work out today. Your kids are going to mind. You are going to show this day who is Boss.
I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor
After wrangling your children out of bed and packing lunches and going on a 30 minute hunt for lost shoes,it’s time for school drop off. Between sibling fights over the radio and who buckled faster, teenage drama venting sessions and traffic, morning drop off can make you lose your ever lovin’ mind.
Party Up (aka Y’all Gonna Make Me Lose My Mind) – DMX
After you drop off your brood, it’s time to hit up the Grocery Store for one of your 3 weekly trips. You take a moment to sit in the parking lot and ponder how such tiny humans can eat so much food? And why you can never seem to keep enough milk, applesauce or goldfish in your house? You give yourself a pep talk that YOU. CAN. DO. THIS.
Gotta Get Through This – Daniel Bedingfield
Upon coming home and putting away the 2 million bags of groceries (didn’t you just go for milk and laundry detergent?) it’s time to tackle the laundry and the dishes you have been neglecting. Then vacuum and mop the floors. Then more laundry.
Run The World (Girls) – Beyonce
Oh what’s that, you thought you had time to relax? NOPE. It’s already time to pick up the kids from school. Where in the world did the day go you wonder while packing snacks for soccer practice and dance, and karate, and swim. It’s your day to carpool everyone to all their million and one activities and as they all pile in the back of that minivan, yelling over each other as you fight traffic and try to get kids to two different places at the same time.
Highway To Hell – AC/DC
Your finally home from a long afternoon of shuffling kids around and it’s time to get everyone fed and situated for the evening. It’s also that time we like to refer to as the “witching hour”. That moment in time before Dads walk in the door to tag in and the kids are losing it and you lost it about 5 hours ago and nobody can deal anymore.
Help! – The Beatles
Oh my goodness! It’s done. The kids are sleeping. The dishes are done. You survived another day. You didn’t get to that work out, but really who has time for that anyways? You kept the kids alive and were almost on time to their activities so that deserves a little treat.
Red Red Wine – UB40
Time to hit the hay so you can wake up and do it all again. You reflect on your day and start mentally running a to do list in your head all while thinking about how much you love your little family. They may have turned your hair grey but gosh dang do you love the mess out of them. You are one blessed mama.
Blessed – Elton John
