Alright moms in case you were unaware this Friday, yes this coming Friday is Grandparent’s Day! I have been the WORST over the past well, 8 years at acknowledging this day. How crappy am I?
But this year I got it together and whipped up something that is pretty darn cute to send to the most special grandparents any 3 little girls could have.
What I loved most about this DIY’er is that the girls were able to be involved with the entire project and had a great time making it.
Supplies:
Wooden Plaques
Paint
Modge Podge
Cute Pictures
Magnets
Glue Gun
Scissors
1. Paint your plaques with your paint color of choice. We did 2 coats just to make sure we got the best coverage. (Please note: Allowing your toddlers to paint with black acrylic paint will cause major stress. Good luck!)
2. Once your plaques are painted measure the area that you will cover with our picture, our space was 3inX3in. In order to make sure your picture is cut to the correct size, measure out and cut a piece of cardboard or cardstock first. Once you have your sizing correct lay your example over your pictures and cut to size.
3. Now that your pictures are ready to go its time to Modge Podge. Don’t you just love a good Modge Podge project? So fun! Ok, back on track. Paint a coat of the modge onto your plaque. Make sure that you have a generous amount to ensure that your picture with adhere but not too much that it gets gloppy (professional term). Once your picture is glued on add another layer of modge podge on top of your picture. Allow this layer to dry and apply 1 more coat.
4. Once your plaque is completely dry it is time to add your magnets. Because the plaque is pretty heavy I recommend adding 3-4 magnets to the back. Simple turn your picture over place 4 drops of hot glue in each corner and place your magnet on top. Allow your hot glue to dry, turn your now magnet over and you are ready to send it to the grandparents.
So there you have it, a super cute and easy gift for the special grandparent’s in your life! You know how grandparent’s love pictures don’t ya?
