Have we ever mentioned that between the two of us we have 7 kids?!
Oh we have?? Ok, good!
Yeah so between those 7 kiddos and husbands who work crazy hours, we are two busy ladies. Come school pick up time we quickly change hats from mom to taxi driver and spend the evening carting our broods around to various extracurricular activities.
Some days dinner just won’t fix itself {although how cool would that be} and when our faithful crock pots fail us, we are trying to search for options that can 1) Not break the bank 2) Will be quality food that fills up our crew 3.) Can be quick and easy so that we can get to our next destination and home for baths, homework and bed.
This is why when we were invited last week to come and hear about a new restaurant opening in the Houston area that could meet all those needs we jumped at the opportunity.
Mamas, allow us to introduce you to our new best friend…
Last week we were invited to the Central Market test kitchen to try out the new Fire Roasted Chicken from the lovely folks at El Pollo Loco. Let us just say that they held nothing back and they treated us to the most amazing spread of food.
Seriously, check out that Tasting menu….it was enough food to feed an army of us. And it was so good.
While we stuffed our faces we learned all about the awesomeness that is El Pollo Loco. El Pollo Loco opened their first restaurant in Los Angeles in 1980, currently they have over 400 locations and will soon be opening new restaurants in the Houston area. They create a fast but healthy dining experience by providing non-processed foods at a great price.
Their signature menu item, a slow grilled citrus marinated chicken is beyond delicious and is offered whole or in a number of hand held items. One thing we also LOVED about El Pollo Loco is that is can accommodate almost any diet you are on from gluten free, low carb or even a vegetarian diet. Their healthy menu is able to satisfy everyone.
Chef Heather Gordea was so informative and walked us through the cooking process while preparing our meals.
And of course we totally kept our cool and maintained the highest level of professionalism throughout the meal.
You can always count on us to play it totally cool….
We ate, and we ate until we couldn’t eat any more. And then they brought out the big guns…..DESSERT!
I am pretty sure it was the first dip of the chip that got us hooked and we can not wait for El Pollo Loco to come to Houston this fall.
It will be the perfect solution to our busy nights when we are scrambling for dinner ideas. And to our fellow Houston moms, be on the look out because you will not want to miss out on the deliciousness that is El Pollo Loco!
