Whenever a holiday comes around I always like to create decorations that will last for at least a few go rounds. I also like to have little pieces that I can simply add to already existing decor in my home to add a little pop of the holiday throughout the house.
I created this DIY Valentine Canvas Art in seriously 15 minutes and just knew it was perfect to add to my gallery wall in my office Valentines Day!
Not only was this cute little piece of art easy but it was cheap!
Here is a tutorial on how to make your own:
Items Needed:
8X10 Canvas
Red Paint (for Canvas)
1 Sheet of Pink Cardstock
1 Gold Metallic Sharpie marker
2″ Heart Template (I used these)
Glue Gun
Directions:
Paint your canvas! I painted my country red but you can paint it any color you would like. After I finished my project I thought it might be cute to paint the canvas metallic gold and put pink hearts on it and have 1 red. I actually think it may match my gallery wall better so don’t be surprised if you see a whole new canvas with these colors.
Next, print your hearts onto the card stock and then cut out all 12 of them. This was the hardest part of the entire project. It is also a great time to have an older child help and be involved.
Once you have your hearts cut out choose one and simply color it gold. I put a couple of coats of ink on mine to ensure that it did not have streak marks. Now that your hearts are all the correct color fold them in half. It is hard to tell from my first picture but they are actually 3-D. Crazy, I know! Getting wild over here.
Next you will lay your hearts out on your canvas to make sure your spacing is correct. Once you know where you want them it is time to start gluing.
Take each heart individually and add a very thin line of hot glue to the crease of the heart and then quickly place it in its designated place on your canvas. If you are not happy with where the heart is carefully remove it add a little more glue and replace. This is one reason why I love hot glue so much, easy to peel and redo!
Now follow up with the rest of your hearts, get creative on where you put your gold heart and pop of color!
This is day 2 of all of the Valentines Day fun we have planned for this week so don’t forget to stop back by. I mean who doesn’t love love, you know you want to come back for more!

I’m impressed with how straight you glued the rows. Cute!
