I have always found it funny, or maybe the word I am looking for is ironic, but when my kids insist on watching a movie for the bazillionth time (Frozen on repeat for a solid 6 months straight) it makes me want to pull my hair out.
Why is this funny?
It’s funny because I have my own stash of favorite movies that I can watch over and over and over again. I love watching movies over and over. Sometimes I like it more than watching a movie I have never seen before. When it was released in theaters, I saw Titanic SEVENTEEN times. Who needs that much Leo in their life?? Apparently Jr. High Michelle.
Pretty much guaranteed that if I see a movie and I like it, I will watch it at least 2-3 times. Once is never enough for me.
There are so many movies I can watch over and over again, but there are a few that have an extra special place in my heart.
These are the 5 Movies I Never Get Sick Of…..
BEACHES
Did I ever tell you, your my HERO? And everything I wish I could be…….. Aw man, I think I was early Jr. High when I watched this for the first time and I can tell you I have been hooked ever since. Back in the day I wore out my VHS copy and had to buy another because it quit playing. The second it came out on DVD it was mine and you better believe every time I get sick it is always one of my go to movies to watch.
HARRY POTTER
Every last one of them. We own the entire Blue Ray boxed set. Some fancy special anniversary edition and yet anytime it comes on ABC Family or HBO or something I find myself drawn in….commercials and all. I can’t say no to Harry. For whatever reason these have become our holiday movies and Christmas Day is for present opening and Harry Potter. Forget “You’ll shoot your eye out”. Christmas didn’t happen unless someone says “Expecto Patronum”.
ABOUT TIME
This may very well be one of my all time favorite movies. I can’t even tell you how many times I have watched it, even recently. Randomly one night Will and I rented it. I didn’t really even want to watch it and tried convincing him we should watch a movie I have seen a thousand times (see, I have a problem) but to my dismay he said No and we ended up in bed and watching the newly rented movie. It was AMAZING. Like life changing. It makes me laugh, it makes me ugly cry and it makes me want to be a better person. Every time I watch it I seriously am on some kind of magic high and have all the mushy loving feelings for all those in my life. If you haven’t seen it you are really missing out in life.
STEEL MAGNOLIAS
Aw, what can you not love about this movie. So many great life lessons. So many awesome one liners. I think your southern card gets revoked if you don’t watch this at least once in your lifetime. I watch it at least once every few months….I can quote it all word for word. Pretty sure Ouiser Boudreaux is my spirit animal. In fact, I think I just thought of our next t-shirt.
PITCH PERFECT
What can I say? It’s ACA- AWESOME. Maybe it’s the choir nerd in me, but I can never get enough. I loved the first one and watched it for months on end. When the second one released I was there to see it not once, not twice but FOUR times in the theaters. I may or may not be counting down the days for it’s DVD release date.
So yes, I like cliche chick flicks….I have nothing to hide. I love them all. And I love to watch them over and over again.
As per our Friday usual, we will be linking up with some of our faves for our weekly Friday fun.
What is your favorite movie? Do you like watching the same movies over and over again or are you a one and done kind of gal?

Oh yes to Beaches. And Pitch Perfect. Oh and Steel Magnolias. I am going to add Grease, Breakfast Club, Notting Hill, and The Holiday to this list.
And I have never seen About Time. But, I think I am going to this weekend. Thanks 🙂
