I feel like I am always trying to come up with fun and inexpensive ways to keep my kids busy while we are stuck in the house. There is nothing worse than bored kids. Can I get an AMEN, Mamas? I put together this list of 20 fun things to do with kids at home to help us out. This list is full of preschool age activities to do at home as well as crafts, DIYs and stem activities for elementary and older kids as well. All of these projects for kids can be done with simple and inexpensive items from around the house!
Activities for Preschoolers and Toddlers
BUBBLE ACTIVITIES- what preschooler doesn’t love bubbles! There are some many fun activities on this list from Making Motherhood Matter. With a bottle of bubbles or even homemade bubbles you can stay busy all day!
HOMEMADE MOON SAND– Does your kiddo love sand but it is too messy for you? This Homemade Moon Sand Recipe from The Imagination Tree is what you need.
DIY PUPPETS- My kids LOVE making their own puppets. Here is a great tutorial from Laly Mom so you can make your own. Aren’t they just the cutest!
SNOW VOLCANO ACTIVITY- What is more fun than science? Science that explodes! This Snow Volcano Experiment from Messy Little Monster looks awesome. We will be doing it soon!
DIY POM POM MONSTERS- Pom poms are a fun craft item that we always have in the house. These Pom Pom Monsters from Oh My Creative are adorable. Kids would have a blast making these.
POM POM WALL- This Pom Pom Wall by Toddler Approved is such a fun idea. With paper towel rolls, tape and pom poms you and your kids can make the coolest pom pom wall maze.
TISSUE PAPER SUN CATCHER- If you are like me, you have tissue paper laying around the house. Take inspiration from Fireflies and Mudpies and make these beautiful Tissue Paper Sun Catchers with your little ones.

Fun Activities for Kids at Home
BUILD A BLANKET FORT- My friend Sarah from Pretty Providence has put together the best post full of tips and tricks to building the most epic blanket forts. We will be building one in my girls room this week. It will keep them busy for hours and hours!
FLUFFY RAINBOW UNICORN SLIME- You know a list of fun activities would not be complete without slime! This recipe from Living Locurto is perfection. Its literally called Fluffy Rainbow Unicorn Slime, basically it’s a little girls dream.
MOON PHASE WATERCOLOR ACTIVITY- This activity is perfect for kids of all ages. My girls are all into moon phases and we are constantly making note of the moon. This activity from Chalk Academy is not only crafty and fun but also education.
BUILD AN ESCAPE ROOM- Ok this is my favorite idea for elementary and even middle school ages kids! The Pathway 2 Success has provided step by step instructions on how to create your very own Escape Room. You can customize it to your kiddos and have a blast! How fun is this idea!
DESIGN A MAZE- Using a paper plate, straws and other items around the house your kids can create a super fun maze. This stem project by Raising Life Long Learners is educational and fun. your kids have to really think about how they will create their maze to make it work best. They can then have others try to complete it.
DIY KALEIDOSCOPE- OMG I love a good kaleidoscope! Using simple items you have at home, Buggy and Buddy has easy to follow instructions on how to create your own.
DIY LUNCH SACK KITE- Being stuck at home does not mean you have to be stuck indoors. These DIY Lunch Sack Kites from The Spruce Crafts are super easy to make and fun for the whole family!
DIY PUPPET THEATER- After you have your DIY Puppets, you need a DIY Puppet Theater! Laura’s Crafty Style has used boxes and other items around the home to create this adorable tutorial so you can make your own theater. It really is just adorable!
HOT AIR BALLOON CRAFT- I Heart Crafty Things has put together 5 different Hot Air Balloon Crafts and they all look like so much fun. Again, using items around the house, your kiddos can make a super fun craft and stay busy for hours!
LEGO STEM ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS- Who has random legos laying around? This activity is for your kiddos! Take those legos and enjoy these Lego Stem Activities from Look We are Learning. Another fun and educational activity to add to your list.
