10 Thanksgiving Crafts & Activities for Kids

November 5, 2014 By Michelle Leave a Comment

So while some of the world has moved straight from Halloween to Christmas, there still is another Holiday upon us. Thanksgiving as of late seems to get the short end of the holiday stick, but we promise to at least commit a week or two to the day of thanks before moving on to the most wonderful time of year.

Thanksgiving means so many things to me, and some of my favorite childhood memories revolve around Thanksgiving. Growing up, we didn’t have any relatives in Texas and so each Thanksgiving we would travel to my grandparents house in Birmingham and enjoy a week with family and friends, eating until we wanted to pop and watching some Alabama Football {Roll Tide}. My grandma, aunt and cousins always made things so fun for us and as I have grown and started my own family, I enjoy incorporating fun activities and crafts and recipes into our Thanksgiving traditions. We have some yearly staples, but I also love finding new things to incorporate.

Here is a little round up of 10 Thanksgiving activities that are sure to be kid approved.

thanksgivingcraftsforkids

1} Thanksgiving Bingo   Quick and easy, this fun game of Bingo can keep the kiddos occupied at the kiddie table, or perhaps hold them over while waiting for the big meal to begin. You can put your own spin on it, or use the awesome Free Printable from Crazy Little Projects.

2} Turkey Treats  These tasty turkeys are perfect for preschool parties, or decorating the kids table. Easy to whip up and fun to create.

3} Cinnamon Salt Dough Leaf Ornaments  Perfect craft to help make your house a little more festive for the big day. You could string them and hang them from a branch and make a centerpeice, you could make them into name card holders, or even napkin rings. The possibilities are endless and bonus they smell good too.

4} Thanksgiving Mad Libs A fun little game for the older kids at your Thanksgiving table.  You could even take it up a notch and create some of your own for the adult table too.

5} Pumpkin Play Dough  A fall craft for even the tiniest turkeys. No need to worry if they accidentally take a bite of the dough….it is totally edible and truth be told, I may be tempted to take a taste or two.

6} Pinecone Turkey Even the least crafty among us can pull this one off. This cute craft can really be broken into two arts with your kiddos. A fun fall walk to collect the pine cones, and then the actual making of the turkeys. Spread out the fun and enjoy.

7} Thanksgiving Placemat Printable Again another quick and easy no fuss printable to add to your kid table with a couple of crayons and you can  call it good.

8} Fall Scavenger Hunt After you have stuffed your faces full of turkey and pie, get outside and get moving. Take the kids on a nature walk and try to check everything off your scavenger hunt list.

9} Thanksgiving Turkey Cups Perfect little treat for toddlers. Pudding, yogurt, chocolate milk….lots of options for these cute little turkeys.

10} Thanksgiving Photo Props With the family gathered, there is no better time to snap some pictures and have memories frozen in time for years to come. Kick the pictures up a notch by adding these fun Thanksgiving themed photo props. Sure to make even those stubborn picture takers smile with glee.

And there ya have it mamas. An awesome round up of some fun activities to incorporate into your Thanksgiving. What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving activities. Any special family traditions? We would love to hear all about them.

Instagram post 17850899390014309 Disney is challenging us to share our first pictures with characters! I had to join in the fun and it was the best trip down memory lane. Disney has been threaded throughout my entire life. I pulled a few of my most favorite memories over the years. From partying in the streets during the most epic dance party and meeting our most favorite princesses to me being a kid at Disney myself. Oh, I also had to add a picture of Cinderella’s Castle. She really is the most beautiful cast member of them all!
@waltdisneyworld we miss you more and more each day. You’ve brought us joy beyond words and we cannot wait for the day when we get to walk down Main Street USA again!
